How do wigs aid in psycho-social therapy for women patients who lose hair due to chemotherapy?

Wigs aid in psycho-social therapy for women patients

Hair is an important feature of our looks. Most chemotherapy drugs cause loss of hair during cancer treatment. This is because chemotherapy kills rapidly growing healthy cells like hair follicles while killing cancerous cells. To bring about awareness of the trauma of losing hair suddenly due to treatment, we conduct and participate in hair donation camps and convert hair into wigs. Donating hair for cancer patients is both easy and self satisfying and anyone can do so. Hair can be made into a beautiful wig for someone who needs it to maintain a positive body image after her hair is shed due to chemotherapy. As a psychological therapy, to help the women regain their self esteem, natural & synthetic hair wigs are donated by the trust to patients. Madat Trust & Cope with Cancer salutes all the gracious ladies who parted with their hair to make a difference!
